She became active in the community and worked for 12 years with the PTA, ultimately serving as President of the Sachem School District PTA Council in 1988.

Ellie was appointed by Mayor Henke to fill the vacated seat left open when former Trustee Olga Wilk passed away in 1997. Subsequently, she ran for office as a Trustee in 1998 and is currently serving her sixth term in office.

In her capacity as Commissioner of Recreation for the last eleven years, Trustee Lotto has been responsible for the supervision and oversight of the highly successful Summer Recreation Program. This five week Program offers a great camping experience to as many as 150 children each year.

In addition, Ellie is the force behind the very popular Annual Harvest Festival and Halloween Celebration which has been held at Kelly Park for the last ten years. Residents
look forward to the festivities which include: pumpkin painting, crafts, hayrides, petting zoo, pony rides, music and games, as well as photo ID cards for children .

She is proud of being a founding member of (L. G. CARES) Lake Grove Cultural Arts Recreation and Education Society. This is a non-profit organization created to raise funds, in order to sponsor events of an educational and charitable nature to benefit the residents of our community. You can find a variety of activities and programs that are always presented by this group. She served as President at its inception in 1999 until 2001. She remains very active with the organization and is currently serving as the Lake Grove Village liaison.

She is also a member of (LGB&H) Lake Grove Beautification and Historical Society serving as the Village liaison as well. This non-profit group seeks to raise funds in order to help beautify our Village. Note the beautiful flowers and Victorian clock located in front of the Village Hall, as an example.
